Here I am halfway into my "in between jobs" vacation. As my friends like to say, I'm now unemployed. I haven't taken more than 2 weeks off in any job and I've only done that twice in my life. Having over 4 weeks off is something interesting. Going into it, I had high aspirations of writing my security model paper, taking care of the kids, cleaning the house, going to the gym, watching all of the new movies, reading some books I've been procrastinating on and diving deep into classical music.
This being my 3rd week I feel like a total failure. I've cleaned the house, gone to the gym 3 times, "started" the classical book, taken the kids to and from work half the time, cleaned the house a bunch (just because I hate it dirty) and started to sleep in late where I used to wake up early without an alarm. On the brighter side, I've gone through some great Stags Leap Wine Cellar bottles (a case), finished Batman, Crisis 2 and almost Inferno (PS3).
With almost my entire break done I have learned a couple of things. Having time off isn't as great as one would think. Unless you have a plan or a mad desire to get bed sores, you really have to be stubborn and determined to make something out of it. Love my vacation, but have definitely learned a couple of things.
Have a vacation idea for me? send it on in.
