As most of you know I am a strong believer in telling stories to convey our thoughts. This is critical as culture change is dependent on getting the emotional enrollment of the listener to our cause. I came across this article on LaughingSquid about Emma Coats from Pixar. She tweeted out her 22 Rules of Storytelling and I wanted to pass them along. Aside from the obvious ones I really think it's key to consider these thoughts every time we put together a presentation and/or narrative on what we are trying to do.
More than presenting some of these are key for all around management. Here are my takeaways
- Focus on the positive.
- Know exactly what you want out of the audience and focus focus focus on that
- Why is what you are saying important at all? Why must it be important to the audience?
